What is the aim of counseling?
The purpose of counseling is to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for client to freely express and regulate their emotions, stress and thoughts. In that process, client will gain awareness and insights about the issues that they are having. Healing process starts when one is aware of their own situation.
Can I receive counseling?
Of course! There are misconceptions that counseling is only needed for those who have mental health concerns such as stress, trauma, anxiety, depression and etc. In fact, counseling can be a process to gain clarity and self-awareness; and a good channel to re-organize your thoughts and feelings.
How long will it take for one session?
Every session takes about 1-2 hours depending on the individual.
Can I trust you?
As a professional and licensed counselor, it is my duty to ensure client’s information are private and confidential.
Exceptions To Confidentiality, if:
– I believed you were a serious threat to yourself or someone else.
– I received a valid court order to release the information.
How many sessions will I need to feel better?
It depends largely upon what the difficulties you are experiencing. Most people will require between 6 to 10 sessions for common mental health problems. Many people feel better immediately for just having discussed their problems with a professional and having a better understanding of what they have been experiencing.
Do you prescribe medication??
I am not a psychiatrist (medical doctor), I am not authorized to prescribe any psychotropic medication to you. In the event that I believe any psychotropic medication would be in your best interests, I will refer you to a qualified psychiatrist for a complete medical diagnosis.
